Guided Walks In Inverness

The Highland Council Rangers are running Guided Walks in Inverness every Wednesday during April. It is free to take part in the guided walks and is all you have to do is turn up at the meeting place.

Scottish Natural Heritage have recommended routes around the City of Inverness comprising The River Ness & Ness Islands, Smithton Woods & Culloden Avenue, Castle Heather Park, & Merkinch Local Nature Reserve & the Caledonian Canal.

Details of the walks are:

Wednesday 6 April 2011 from 2 – 2.30 pm at Merkinch Local Nature Reserve

Enjoy life at the sea side on this walk along the sea wall in the green gem that is Merkinch Local Nature Reserve. Meet at the ferry turning circle at the end of Kessock Road Inverness.

Wednesday 13 April 2011 from 2 – 2.30 pm at Ness Islands

Watch the river and its wildlife flow by as you wander along the Ness Islands. Meet at the bridge onto the Ness Islands from Bught Drive, Inverness.

Wednesday 20 April 2011 from 2 – 2.30 pm at Culloden Avenue

Visit the sculpture trail and marvel at the tall trees as you look for signs of spring along the historic avenue. Meet at the Doocot car park off Barn Church Road, Culloden.

Wednesday 27 April 2011 from 2 -2.30 pm at Castle Heather Park

Feed the ducks at the duck pond and enjoy the flowers on the native trees. This is an accessible walk with something interesting for everyone. Meet at the car park off Balloan Road behind Greyfriars Church Inverness.
