THE EMPIRE THEATRE
Named after the original Edwardian Empire Theatre in Inverness, the largest performance space in the Eden Court complex opened in 1976, 6 years after the demise of its predecessor.
A Grade 1 listed building; this air-conditioned 850-seat auditorium remains at the heart of the facilities available at Eden Court. It has a substantial stage backed up by a large number of very comfortable dressing rooms, some of which can also be used as organisers’ offices or breakout rooms. All dressing rooms have hard wired data connection.
Designed over three levels, the Empire offers a range of very comfortable seating options with excellent sight lines. The stalls can seat some 500 delegates. A further two seating areas in the first and second circles can be utilised for larger conferences.
Access to our high quality AV, lighting and sound equipment, supported by our expert team of technical professionals, allows even the most elaborate and challenging events to be staged to great effect. Further information and advice can be obtained from our technical department.
The stage and the auditorium are fully accessible to disabled patrons with seating for wheelchair users on a number of levels, a Sennheiser infrared hearing assistance system and audio description capabilities. Our dedicated and experienced front of house staff are on hand for customers who require additional assistance or support.
Refreshment and breakout areas are provided on three levels, with access to the Douglas Yule Roof Terrace offering a unique, summertime breakout space.
Now restored to its original splendour, the stunning 19th century Bishop’s Palace provides a beautiful and stimulating environment for organisers wishing to maximise networking opportunities in a unique venue, or simply enjoy different meeting surroundings. The Palace provides access to three function rooms: the SGL Board Room, the MacLean Room and the Tulloch Meeting Room, each of which can be set up to suit the needs of your event. The exquisite, pitch pine clad main hall area is regularly used for receptions as well as refreshment breaks, buffet lunches etc for the meeting rooms.
THE MACLEAN ROOM
The MacLean Room is a large and versatile space offering room for up to 90 people in a theatre style or 50 in board room or cabaret style. For smaller events, there is ample room for groups to break from the main meeting within the space.
The MacLean Room faces out to the beautiful landscaped grounds of Eden Court and over to the picturesque River Ness and beyond.
THE SGL BOARDROOM
At 45 square metres, the SGL Boardroom is ideal for board room style meetings of up to 20 people. A bright and airy room with large north facing windows and a high ceiling, this room offers a comfortable venue for mid sized meetings. In a theatre style lay out, the SGL Boardroom accommodates 40 – 50 comfortably.
THE TULLOCH MEETING ROOM
The smallest of the Bishop’s Palace meeting rooms, the Tulloch Homes Room is a quiet room, away from the main hall of the Palace; perfect for more confidential meetings. This bright room with two large windows, one overlooking the river, can comfortably accommodate 12 people in a board room style or up to 25 in a theatre lay out.
THE PROVOST SMITH MEMORIAL CHAPEL
The ‘jewel’ in the Palace’s crown is the Provost Smith Memorial Chapel, a beautiful, atmospheric space which is an extremely popular venue for exclusive, intimate weddings and special occasions. The Chapel is also available on a more limited basis for smaller meetings of up to 20 depending on seating configuration.
With acoustic design and technical capabilities geared towards the requirements of national and international performers, the hugely flexible OneTouch Theatre is Eden Court’s second largest space, capable of accommodating up to 260 delegates in traditional ‘theatre’ style seating arrangement. The seating in this space is electronically retractable, offering the option to turn the entire 340 metre sq. floor space into a flat configuration. This set-up is particularly suitable for expos, dances and banquet style dining.
La Scala is the larger of Eden Court’s two cinemas, with fixed seating for up to 136 delegates. La Scala is also fully digital, with state-of-the-art digital projection in addition to traditional 35mm projection capability.
The Playhouse cinema can accommodate up to 86 delegates, again in a fixed seating configuration.
Both cinemas have a raised platform at the front, offering space for speakers, lecterns and advertising. There is provision for both 13 amp power and data connection. The front and rear of both cinemas are easily accessed by customers with mobility difficulties.
The Jim Love Studio was named in honour of the former editor of the Inverness Courier and a great champion of the arts. This space and Studio 2 both have sprung dance floors, floor to ceiling mirrors and ballet barre. The mirrors and barre can be curtained off when appropriate. Generally used for our extensive education work and by visiting professional dance companies, the studios can be hired for meetings and events either as break out rooms in conjunction with other spaces, e.g. the OneTouch Theatre, or as stand alone venues. The studios can both accommodate 100 people in a theatre style or larger boardroom-style meetings of up to 30.
THE DOUGLAS YULE ROOF TERRACE
This fantastic outdoor spot offers magnificent views over the landscaped grounds of Eden Court to the spectacular River Ness and the city beyond. Perfect for an after work glass of wine or a small private reception. Come and enjoy the city from a unique viewpoint.
